Karan Dev Kamboj urges PM to bring back pistol of Shaheed Udham Singh from London

Haryana Minister of State for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Karan Dev Kamboj said that he has, through a written communication, urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to bring back from London the pistol of Shaheed Udham Singh and the book in which he had concealed the pistol and entered the Caxton Hall in London to shoot at General Michael O'Dwyer. The Minister said the book and the pistol would be kept in a museum to inspire the youth and future generations. Mr Kamboj and Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Anil Vij were speaking at a function organised on the occasion of 117th birth anniversary of Shaheed Udham Singh here today.Mr Kamboj said that as announced by Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, the biography of Shaheed Udham Singh would be included in the syllabus of schools. He said that one of the entrance gates, being built in the Swarna Jayanti Year, would be named after Shaheed Udham Singh. A chowk would also be named after the great freedom fighter in each of the major cities of the state. Shaheed Udham Singh Memorial Bhawan Society Mr Vij said that only that country can progress whose martyrs get due honour and people are patriotic. He said that the martyrs do not belong to a particular religion or community, they belong to the entire country and the society. He said that Shaheed Udham Singh had killed General O'Dwyer to avenge the Jallianwala Bagh massacre in Amritsar. Mr Vij and Mr Kamboj also paid floral tributes to Shaheed Udham Singh and announced Rs five lakh each for the construction of Shaheed Udham Singh Memorial Bhawan in Chandigarh.
