A candle march will be organised at Jantar Mantar in Delhi on 31 July 2016 to pay tribute to Shaheed Udham Singh on his martyrdom day. The march will be organized by All India Kamboj Mahasabha from 5 PM to 8 PM. The candle march will start from Jantar Mantar and will be ending at India Gate. Udham Singh adopted the name Ram Muhammad Singh Azaad to emphasize the unity of all the religious communities in India in their struggle for freedom. Shaheed Udham Singh (26 December 1899 – 31 July 1940) was an Indian freedom fighter and revolutionary best known for assassinating Sir Michael O'Dwyer, the former Lieutenant Governor of the Punjab in British India, on 13 March 1940. The assassination has been described as an avenging of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre in Amritsar in 1919. Shaheed Udham Singh is a prominent figure of the Indian freedom struggle.
