Punjab Congress vice president C. D. Singh Kamboj joins AAP

Punjab Congress vice president Col C. D. Singh Kamboj (retd.) joined Aam Aadmi Party on Tuesday in the presence of AAP state convenor Sucha Singh Chhottepur and party's national organization building in-charge Durgesh Pathak. It is his third party. After retirement from army he joined BSP and was made state president by party president Kanshi Ram and he was serving as president of Punjab BSP when he defected to Congress. A senior leader from Doaba, Kamboj – a loyalist of Congress Deputy Leader in the Lok Sabha Captain Amarinder Singh – had twice fought assembly elections on a Congress ticket from Shahkot, an Akali stronghold. Though known for his allegiance to Captain Amarinder Singh in the Congress factionalism, senior Congress leader Ambika Soni was considered to be his mentor. He unsuccessfully contested four elections - two on BSP ticket and two assembly election on Congress ticket from Shahkot in 2007 and 2012. He contested as BSP candidate in assembly election in 1997 from Dakala and parliament election from Hoshiarpur in 1998. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6vGW6fEf5LM Till recently in the party rallies Kamboj enumerated Captain Amarinder Singh's virtues as a leader who could save Punjab and Congress party as an alternative to the SAD. However on Tuesday while justifying his dumping Congress for AAP on Tuesday he said that Congress was suffering from factionalism and was also failing to emerge as an alternative to SAD. He said that AAP was the only hope of the people and was being looked as an alternative which could be beneficial for Punjab. Sucha Singh Chhottepur defended his entry in AAP saying that they were taking good people from other parties and there was no promise of any party office or ticket and everybody would have to work as a volunteer.
