Aman Singh Chandi - A first turban-wearing Sikh elected to B.C. Legislature

Aman Singh Chandi (Kamboj) becomes first turbaned Sikh to be elected to British Columbia assembly from the Richmond-Queensborough. He originally belongs to the Village Chopri of district Karnal, Haryana, India. Aman Singh, who was born in Hong Kong, came close to attaining the feat of being elected an MLA in 2017, but lost by just 134 votes to Jas Johal of the Liberal Party. The latter is also Sikh but does not wear a turban.
